NO AMENDMENT- IMPROVE THE SYSTEM TO PUNISH PERPETRATORS

 Standing Up for Justice in Liberia

As Liberia’s National Orphans Representative, I joined the Children’s Forum, women’s rights institutions, and other child advocacy groups in a peaceful protest calling for a non-bailable rape law and standing firmly against any amendment that would weaken it.

With the alarming prevalence of rape and other forms of violence against women, girls, and children in Liberia, we make our position clear — we do not support the amendment of the rape law.

We recommend:

* Fixing the justice system.

* Ensuring speedy trials.

* Providing full protection for victims.

* Establishing and making productive a fast-track court to adjudicate SGBV matters.

For me, this is more than a protest — it’s a call to protect lives, uphold dignity, and secure justice for Liberia’s most vulnerable.
